Bishop E. Lynn Brown, President
Bishop E. Lynn Brown was elected the forth-sixth Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) in 1986 after serving as the General Secretary of the Board of Publication Services of the CME Church and as pastor of several prominent churches in the Tennessee area. During his career, Bishop Brown taught at the collegiate level and earned a reputation as a world traveler, dynamic teacher and forceful preacher. He has authored several books that include: “Salvation is of the Lord,” “The Pastor as an Enabling and Equipping Disciple,” and “Conception of Sin in Thought of Reinhold Neibuhr.”
The hallmark of Bishop Brown’s career and ministry has been his community activism. He served with the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. just days before his untimely death. He is President of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Coalition of Greater Cincinnati, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Center for Closing the Health Gap in Greater Cincinnati, member, Board of Directors of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and member, National Board of Directors, Southern Christian Leadership Conference to name a few organizations. He has received hundreds of awards and citations for his outstanding contribution toward improving the human condition and building a beloved community.
Rabbi Gary Zola, Ph.D, Immediate Past President Rabbi Gary P. Zola, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of The Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives and Professor of the American Jewish Experience. He was ordained at HUC-JIR in Cincinnati and served for many years as the National Dean of Admissions, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations. His area of expertise is American Jewish history.
