MLK COMMUNITY SERVICE CHALLENGE
BUSINESS/GROUP RULES
Groups including businesses, churches, schools and organizations may register for the “Not Just
One Day of Service” Challenge by completing and mailing the Group Registration Form and the
registration fee of $25, if applicable. (There is no registration fee for schools.)
Each group then encourages its employees/members/students and their families to compete/volunteer. Volunteers will select a not- for- profit site to volunteer.
Volunteers should inform the not-for profit that:
- 1. They are volunteering as part of this call to service There is no cost for schools to register.
- 2. The volunteer and not-for-profit volunteer coordinator should complete the Volunteer Registration Form
- 3. Each week a representative from the not-for-profit should submit either via email, or phone the individual’s time and company/school they represent to the MLK designees. The contact information for the MLK designees for the Adult and Youth Divisions is located on the Registration and Volunteer Forms.
The MLK designees will keep track of the service time donated. Look for periodic challenge updates
on our website (www.mlkcoalition.org).
On MLK Day, January 18, 2010, awards will be presented at the MLK birthday celebration at Music
Hall. A representative from the winning groups will be recognized and will have the opportunity to
have their picture taken with local dignitaries. In addition, groups paying the 2009-10 registration
will automatically be registered for 2010-2011 as well.
Companies (Adult Division) will be tiered by size
Super Heavyweights 1000 + employees
Heavyweight 800-1000 employees
Middleweight 600-800 employees
Welterweight 400-600 employees
Featherweight 200-400 employees
Bantamweight 100-200 employees
Flyweight 50-100 employees
Strawweight 0-50 employees
Schools (Youth Division)
Open to all schools
